Pablo Ong Jr., Bountiful Harvest (2023) 13.25 x 13.75 Watercolor on paper

The Galerie Francesca Group marks this incoming year of the Wood Dragon with the Chinoy community through “88: Regal Reflections”. Timed to coincide with Chinese New Year, this special exhibition features promising artists from the esteemed Filipino-Chinese artist group “8”, among whom are:

Addie Cukingnan, Charlie Co, Dexter Sy, Ed Uygongco, Iris Babao-Uy, Jo Uygongco, Julia Lopue, Margarita Lim, Meneline Wong, Pablo Ong Jr., Rica Rosario Ong, Ronnie Lim, Rudy Yu, Seb Chua, Sherwin Tan, and Stella Tansengco-Schapero.

The lesson of this Dragon year’s cycle is not to compromise, where someone loses in sacrifice, but it is with a creative solution that everyone gains more than they ever expected. This exhibition is a celebration of rebirth and a reminder to reflect on our actions and choices in life, which will bring us growth, prosperity, and peace.

From traditional to contemporary and abstract, this wide array of subjects and artistic styles does not present themes of violence, the nude, or death. Just like how optimism is encouraged to be practiced this year, we should look at the world in its purest state, the very rocks and streams are felt to be alive, and the flora and fauna are one with nature, which are visible manifestations of what makes the world harmonious.

“Regal Reflections” will simultaneously take place at two prestigious venues: Art Lounge Manila, Molito in the South of Manila, and Galerie Francesca, Megamall in the bustling city of Ortigas. The exhibition schedule is as follows:

Jo Uygongco, Mystic Mountains (2024) 15.5 x 19 Watercolor on canvas

Art Lounge Manila in Molito, Alabang
Duration: February 1-13, 2024

Galerie Francesca in Megamall
Duration: February 5-18, 2024

Join us as we celebrate the Chinese New Year with these contemporary Chinoy artists where art, culture, and tradition meet. “Regal Reflections” beautifully reflects and celebrates the rich heritage and cultural significance of the Filipino-Chinese community.
