As the Philippines faces yet another harsh weather condition in the form of Tropical Storm Enteng, the bayanihan spirit is once again alive, with various communities extending efforts and initiatives to help those affected.

To assist in these efforts, we've curated a list of initiatives where you can contribute or offer help to our fellow Filipinos in need.

Community Kitchen

Founded during the pandemic by volunteer Patreng Non, the community pantry, also known as the community kitchen, provides food to evacuees in the affected areas.

Currently, the kitchen is actively seeking donations to purchase basic ingredients to meet the needs of victims staying in evacuation centers. They are also aiming to raise a minimum of Php 5,000 to establish each kitchen. Since its inception on September 2, the community has set up 31 kitchens in various areas, including Taytay, Pasig, Caloocan, Marikina, Sta. Maria, and Marilao, Bulacan, Batasan Hills, and Naga City, among others.

#TulongMoiGCashMo

Finance application GCash is also leveraging its platform to amplify the initiatives and donation drives of several non-government organizations (NGOs) such as the Philippine Red Cross, Ayala Foundation Inc., ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Inc., GMA Kapuso Foundation Inc., UNICEF Philippines, and Save the Children.

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) can also contribute by sending remittances through their remittance partners like Taptap Send, Remitly, OTT Remit, Ria, and Western Union.

Donors can simply scan the QR codes of the NGO they wish to support.

Angat Buhay

The non-government organization Angat Buhay has also mobilized its branches across various municipalities to deliver aid to the victims.

They are conducting donation drives, setting up community kitchens in different localities, and offering free check-ups through their Bayanihan E-Konsulta program, which also addresses general medical cases, including leptospirosis prophylaxis.

Different branches of Angat Buhay are also accepting in-kind goods and clothing donations to be distributed to the typhoon victims.

Task Force Children of the Storm

Task Force Children of the Storm, a local NGO based in Marikina, is accepting in-kind and monetary donations to support the mobilization of their “Tulong Paslit Mobile Kitchen,” which aims to assist children and their families near the Marikina River.

LoveYourself Inc.

LoveYourself Inc., a community of volunteers that provides free HIV testing, counseling, and treatment, is also maximizing its platforms by accepting in-kind and monetary donations for communities affected by Tropical Storm Enteng. Additionally, the organization is seeking volunteers for their relief operations.

If you have the capacity to donate, various communities are ready to lend a helping hand by starting initiatives or maximizing their platforms to assist the victims.
